Extended Thinking

Extended thinking is a setting that lets Claude spend real effort working a hard problem through before it starts writing an answer, and it shows you a summary of that work. This is a switch you turn on, not a way of wording your request. It is slower and uses more of your allowance, so it suits genuinely hard questions rather than everyday ones.
