Next-Word Prediction
A familiar shorthand for predicting the next unit in a language sequence; modern language models commonly predict tokens rather than whole words. Repeated conditional predictions can generate longer text. This mechanism alone does not verify facts, and an application may additionally retrieve information or call tools before producing an answer.
