Proprietary Algorithm
An algorithm is just the fixed set of steps a program follows to reach an answer. Calling one proprietary means the company will not tell you what those steps are. Sometimes that secrecy protects real engineering, and often it hides an ordinary formula, a hand-tuned scoring sheet, or a call to the same public AI everybody else uses.
