Query Rewriting

Query rewriting reformulates a search input so a retriever can find useful evidence. It changes the retrieval question, not the final answer. A useful rewrite preserves the user's important constraints while resolving wording or context that the search system might otherwise handle poorly. More fluent language alone is not better retrieval.
