Technical Debt

A metaphor for design or implementation choices that make later change more difficult and may justify deliberate remedial work. Debt can result from expedience or improved understanding; it is not a literal loan or a label for every disliked feature. Costs, risks and repayment priorities require evidence rather than assumed interest rates.
