Turing Test
The Turing test is an old thought experiment in which a machine passes if a person chatting with it cannot tell it is not human. It was never a real measure of intelligence or usefulness, and today's chatbots can pass casual versions of it while being wrong about basic facts. Headlines about AI passing it describe conversation style, not reliability.
