Unicode Normalization
Transforming Unicode text into a specified normalization form so certain equivalent character sequences have a consistent representation. Canonical forms and compatibility forms preserve different distinctions. Normalization is not general spelling correction, case folding or a guarantee that visually similar characters from different scripts become identical.
