CLAUDE.md is a Markdown instruction file used by Claude Code to provide project or user guidance. It can describe conventions, architecture and verification commands. Which instructions load depends on the documented location and scope rules. Its contents are model context, not enforced access control; a sentence saying never deploy does not technically remove deployment credentials or tools.
