Data Validation
Checking data against declared rules before accepting or using it. Rules can cover required fields, types, allowed values and relationships. A structurally valid record is not automatically accurate, current or authorized. Validation should report what failed while avoiding unnecessary exposure of the rejected payload, especially when it contains personal or secret information.
