Compensation
A new business action that counteracts an earlier committed action when the larger workflow cannot complete as intended. It follows current business rules and must account for concurrent changes. Compensation can itself fail and rarely restores every prior condition: fees, elapsed time, sent messages, and audit history may remain.
Also called: Compensating action, Compensating transaction
