Gross Margin

Gross profit expressed as a percentage of revenue: revenue minus the assigned cost of goods or services sold, divided by revenue. Cost classification must be consistent. Gross margin is not markup, which uses cost as its denominator, and is not net profit after all operating expenses, interest and taxes.
