Observability
Observability is the ability to understand a system from evidence it emits, such as metrics, logs and traces. Instrumentation should make useful questions answerable about behavior and failure, rather than merely collect a large volume of data. Monitoring commonly checks known conditions; observability supports investigating what happened across components and why further evidence is needed.
